The first part of this unit will integrate your study of English with the content of your Biology class. You will be reading articles about issues in science, as well as articles from other other subject areas. Part 1 of the unit will end with an in-class essay, in which you take a position on a science-related issue and support it with evidence from articles you are provided.

 

You will study how to:

• read and understand non-fiction resources.

• state a position on a topic.

• organize the defense of a position into several logical parts.

• select the best support material from provided resources to defend a position.
