Assessment Tasks

• During your reading of your novel, you will write sticky notes (and categorize them using The 3 Ways of Thinking) as a means of processing your thinking about the text. These will be regularly checked in during class reading time. 

 

• As you build a body of research on the historical context of your novel, you will write practice annotated bibliography entries. 

 

• After plenty of practice, you will write a summative ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY based on one of your sources in your "Novel Notes" document.

 

• At the end of the unit, you will write a BOOK REVIEW analyzing how the novel depicts the time period in which it is set, which you will then post on Goodreads.com. 

 

• You will engage in a blended English-World History activity to relfect on how these novels as well as historical documents shape our understanding of globalization in the 16th Century.
